Findlay Out at Cap File

Relatively new editor Christie Findlay announced her departure from Capitol File this afternoon. Findlay, who was previously at Politics magazine joined CF last fall after EIC Sarah Schaffer replaced Sherry Moeller.

In her note, Findlay said, “I’m about to adopt my first child, and I’m looking forward to an incredible month home with him. At some point I’ll figure out my next work adventure, but for right now I’m focused on Monster Trucks and giant stuffed dinosaurs.”

Findlay’s last day will be this Friday.

MoKi Media Launch Fete

Dannia Hakki and Sherry Moeller.jpg Former Cap File EIC, Sherry Moeller and Dannia Hakki celebrated the official launch of their new public relations firm, MoKi Media (www.mokimedia.com) last week. Plenty of local media mavens and some of MoKi’s high-profile clientele joined the duo at Bethesda’s Lebanese Taverna to toast their new company. Notable guests included R&B artist Ginuwine, jazz musician Marcus Johnson, and WUSA9 anchors Angie Goff and Andrea Roane. Congratulations ladies!

Former Cap File EIC to Hisaoka Communications

Is it the curse of Capitol File or a natural transition? Either way, another Cap File EIC of yesteryear recently made a leap to the dark side of media. Kate Gibbs, the mag’s founding editor in chief has accepted a position as a senior account exec with Hisaoka Communications.

Gibbs is the second Cap File EIC to make an editorial to agency transition. Sherry Moeller formed MoKi Media after she was replaced by Sarah Schaffer earlier this year.

Cap File Publisher Resigns

Susan Nixon announced that she’d be stepping down as publisher of Capitol File yesterday. Her resignation comes only a few short months after former-EIC Sherry Moeller was replaced by Sarah Schaffer.

According to “Yeas and Nays,” Nixon revealed her plans to resign last week at the Knock Out Abuse Gala.

Moeller Launches PR Firm

We told you that there were rumblings of former Cap File EIC Sherry Moeller forming a PR agency and now it’s official. Moeller and Dannia Hakki have combined forces to start, MoKi Media.

What’s Moki? MO for Moeller and KI for Hakki – a combination of their last names.

Congrats ladies.

Moeller Back as a Flack

A tipster tells FishbowlDC that Cap File’s EIC of yestermonth, Sherry Moeller has reemerged as a flack after being replaced by Sarah Schaffer at CF on May 14th. We hear that she has teamed up with a publicist from the “cosmetic surgery” industry and plans to announce a new firm in the coming months. We checked Moeller’s LinkedIn profile and indeed, it now reads “Independent Public Relations and Communications Professional.”
