A memo sent out today by Reuters editor-in-chief Stephen Adler announces that the news agency will hire 50 people in 2014. This comes after the outlet let go 5% of its staff late last year. No word yet if the outlet will revisit hiring former employees. Memo below.
I’m pleased to share the good news that I’ve been able to approve 50 new hires for 2014. These positions, which will be filled during the course of the year, reflect the recommendations of bureau chiefs, EICs and regional editors. The new hiring will help us fill gaps, increase our strength on some high-priority beats, and help us continue to expand our presence in key emerging markets. The roles are spread across text and visuals, and you’ll see postings for nearly all of them as they become available to be filled.
