Nikki Finke to Newsweek: ‘I Didn’t Want Washington’

Back in the early 80s gossip guru Nikki Finke, Editor-in-Chief and founder of Deadline Hollywood, had choice words for Newsweek about Washington, D.C. “I’d specifically told the Newsweek powers-that-be that I didn’t want Washington,” she writes. “So of course they put me in D.C.”

Our siblings at FishbowlLA have a racy writeup about her antics reported on newsweekmemories.org. They include her breaking up with her married lover, flying on Air Force One and a photographer taking nude shots of her in a bathroom. Fun times?

Finke’s Washington past is plentiful. She worked for Rep. Ed Koch (D-N.Y.) before going to work for the AP in Baltimore. She has also written for WaPo.

Is Sharpton’s Twitter on the Fritz?

On Saturday MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton apparently really wanted people to know what he was up to here in the nation’s capitol. Repeatedly. We’re glad to hear he had friends to chill with in D.C. before his NBC “MTP” appearance, but is there something wrong with his Twitter? More details and namedropping next time though, okay Rev.?

At 3:09 p.m.: “Just landed in DC after a good rally in Harlem this am. I am going to hook up w/ friends and do Meet the Press in the morning.”

Then three minutes later at 3:12 p.m.: “Just landed in DC, after a good rally at NAN in Harlem this AM. I am live on Meet the Press in the morning. Chillin w/ friends tonight.”

By now Paula Broadwell, alleged mistress to General David Petraeous, is practically a household name. Interesting enough, her photograph turned up in Aspen Security Forum’s 2012 speaker’s list. She is, after all, author of that now ridiculously perfectly-named biography, All In: The Education of General David Petraeous.

Yup. There she is, strutting her stuff amid a bunch of balding or otherwise unattractive white men and a few angry looking women tossed in for good measure.

Funny, you can almost hear her belting out that old 1980 Enjoli perfume commercial in this picture… “I can put the wash on the line, feed the kids, get dressed, pass out the kisses, and get to work by five to nine. I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in the pan. And never, ever let you forget you’re a man…!“
