The Other Plame-gate

There’s still movement on the Armstrong Williams story…From Hotline:

PRESS PASS: No Charges Left Behind

The Education Dept “has acknowledged” that it is working with the U.S. attys’ office to investigate the Bush admin’s contract with Armstrong Williams. “That suggests civil or criminal charges could be filed,” according to Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ). Lautenberg on 10/14 “publicly released” a letter from Education Dept Insp. Gen. John Higgins disclosing the referral.” Williams said “he expects to pay back some of the money because he did not fulfill” the gov’t contract, which called for him to promote No Child Left Behind. Williams: “That’s what we’re negotiating” (Toppo, USA Today, 10/17).
