The “State of the Union” is Strong, CNN Staffers Engaged

Look out John King and Dana Bash… there’s a new couple in CNN’s Washington bureau.

Champagne bottles were popping in the “State of the Union” offices earlier today to celebrate the engagement of Ted Metzger and Jessica Rummel.

Metzger is a producer and Rummel is a production assistant for King’s Sunday cable show.

We hear Metzger proposed while the couple was on vacation last week at the Cornwall Inn just outside Hershey, Pennsylvania. It involved all of the traditional romantic elements- candlelight, roses, and of course, the diamond ring. The next day they went to Chocolate World at Hershey Park and then straight to Pittsburgh to tell the bride-to-be’s family in person.

The wedding is slated for spring 2011 in Washington. Congrats!
