Top Ten Newspaper Holiday Parties

martini.jpgErik Wemple’s Department of Media column also features the low down on newspaper holiday parties around town.

Let’s just say that D.C. newspapers are acting very Scrooge-y this year.

Wemple has a detailed table at the bottom of his article, with categories including, “Budget,” “Location,” “Food,” “Drink” and “Entertainment.”

Here’s how we rank ‘em based on Wemple’s data:

1.) Metro Weekly (“Linguine with shrimp scampi, strawberry and spinach salad and red velvet cake”). BYOPretension…

2.) On Tap (“Rail drinks, beer, and wine from 7:30 until last call.”) On Tap rounds up the Rail Reindeers: On Cuervo, On Bushmills, On Citron, on Bombay…

3.) Roll Call (“They pipe in music for us…They actually will take our CDs.”) Actually take your CDs? OMG OMG OMG. Technology is amazing these days…

4.) Washington Blade (“We have a voting thing going on for best employees.”) You actually have employees?

5.) Hill Rag, East of the River and DC North (“Rail drinks purchased with tickets.”) Ah, just like college…they’ll be beating up the interns for extra tix.

6.) Capitol File (“Employees can order what they want, including drinks.”) Sure, but who’s paying?

7.) DCStyle (“Somewhere in Philaldelphia.” “Refused to comment on holiday fest.”). Out of town and off the record? That could actually mean it’s going be amazing.
    8) Washington Post, Metro Section (“Skit parodying editors meeting.”) Bob Woodward will be absent from the skit…working from home…will wait until next year to tell other thespians about this ‘great skit parody idea’ he has….

9.) Washington Examiner (“We don’t even plan on singing.”) Or eating or drinking either, apparently..

10.) InTowner (“We just never done one.”) We know that the InTowner isn’t the wealthiest of pubs, but have they now resorted to speaking in Redneck?
