U.S. News Cuts Senior Staffers
Howard Kurtz picks up something we spent most of yesterday chasing: The extent of the lay-offs at U.S. News & World Report. He confirms the two names we heard: Congressional correspondent Terence Samuel and acclaimed author/blogger/chief political writer Roger Simon, and says that the total cuts were “at least” 10. The New York Times names two other laid-off staffers, Sara Sklaroff and Linda Kulman, who were both on maternity leave.
From what we hear, this is hardly the end of it–perhaps barely even the beginning. Rumors are still flying over at the magazine, especially as to a potential second round of lay-offs and a potential shifting of resources from the D.C. bureau to the New York bureau….
