Vince Morris Shakes Up City Hall

VinceMorris.jpgWe don’t spend a lot of time dwelling on local news here in the District/Colony, but since the Mayor’s new communications director Vince Morris, formerly of the New York Post and the Washington Times, is an experienced (and “beautiful”) Hill face, we thought this was worthy of note.

Morris is rattling a lot of City Hall regulars with his get tough attitude to press conferences and the coddling of reporters, the City Paper’s Loose Lips column reports today.

After Morris cut short the April 6 press conference, Loose Lips reports that “the orderly briefing turned into a rapid-fire bitch session.” After numerous issues were issued, some of the local TV crews complained about getting parking tickets outside the John A. Wilson Building.

Morris snapped back: “Take Metro.”

He’s certainly earning that 121k, isn’t he?

Reporters who are getting their first taste of Morris might want to remember what happens when he gets really annoyed: Hill followers might recall Morris’ shoving match with a CBS cameraman in the Senate TV Gallery last summer and an incident in the Hawkeye state leading up to last January’s caucuses where Morris had another tussle with a freelance photog.

The bottom line: Don’t tread on him. He may look like a GQ photospread, but he’ll kick your ass.
