WBJ‘s O’Connell to WaPo

WBJ Editor Doug Fruehling announced yesterday that WaPo has snatched away reporter Jonathan O’Connell. O’Connell has covered D.C. government and nonprofits AT WBJ for nearly three years.

In a memo to staff, Fruehling also announced the departure of associate editor Tim Burn saying “We’ll be looking for new blood to fill these positions.”

Good news for job seekers! See Fruehling’s full memo after the jump.

Hi everyone –

It is with great sadness that I announce the resignation of Jonathan O’Connell. Jonathan is leaving the WBJ to take a job with The Washington Post.

Jonathan has been a tremendous asset at the Business Journal, covering the D.C. government and nonprofits for nearly three years. He is a former employee of the year, and, to be honest, a great all-around guy. I will never be able to say enough good things about him, and we will miss him terribly. He was not only a valued employee but a good friend.

In other personnel news, Tim Burn has also left the company after nearly three years as our associate editor overseeing our Focus and BizSmarts sections.

We’ll be looking for new blood to fill these positions. If you know anyone in the job market, please have them contact Liz or me.

Our best to Jonathan and Tim.

Doug
