WHCA Puts DC On A Diet

The AP reports the White House Correspondents Association has decided to skip dessert at Saturday’s dinner and donate the $13,140 saved to So Others Might Eat. The association will add $10,000 itself to the SOME donation.

“We decided to take this unusual route this year to recognize the difficulties that lots of people are facing right now and give back some from the incredible financial success of the dinner,” WHCA President and AP White House correspondent Jennifer Loven said.

Also new this year- First Lady Michelle Obama will present the WHCA’s annual journalism scholarships. Sixteen students will be awarded $132,000.
