Which Glossy?

So, which DC-based luxury magazine is undergoing some changes?

From mediabistro.com’s job board:

One anonymous tipster says, “What luxury lifestyle magazine has numerous jobs posted on media bistro? Possibly the family-owned mag that has lost 10+ employees in the last year?”

Let’s play the guessing game…

Hard to believe it’s DC Style, since they’re going totally online.

Washingtonian? Probably not. First, they’d never dare stoop to the level of calling themselves a “luxury publication.” It’s a “lifestyle publication,” thank you very much. Second, the job descriptions don’t really match Washingtonian’s structure: There are two managing editors there already and, currently, they don’t take care of a lot of the stuff listed in the M.E. job description. The interns are supervised by an assistant editor (she interviews them, picks them, and the managing editor and editor-in-chief largely just approve her decisions). Managing editors have nothing to do with ad placement. And it’s the senior editors who work with the contributors, and the art department works with photography.

Okay, then. DC Magazine? Doubtful. They have three people on the DC editorial team (they share national content with the rest of Modern Luxury so that they can afford to be smaller than the Washingtonian): Editor in chief, a features editor, and an associate editor…There’s no managing editor there.

So, best we can tell, that leaves Washington Life and Capitol File…

…Who’s got the inside scoop and/or a theory?
