Co-host Chuck Todd sandwiched the soup segment within a race by race feature and an announcement. He said Philadelphia-based radio reporter Michael Smerconish would interview President Obama at 11:40 a.m.. Todd said they’d “exclusively simulcast the interview.” He added, “Maybe before the President sits down with that, he’ll sit down and have some White House Soup of the Day, potato and leek, and maybe he’ll leak it out to us. [Slight Pause] See, that joke never gets old.”
