Who Is Right? Miami Herald or Politico?
Political reporting is nothing if not redundant…and, occasionally, totally contradictory.
Exhibit A: Politico’s story today, which declares:
Eight years after the furor over the repatriation of Elian Gonzalez to Cuba possibly cost Al Gore the state of Florida in his 537-vote loss to George W. Bush, the international custody saga has returned to haunt another Democratic presidential nominee: Barack Obama.
And today’s Miami Herald piece:
In a sign that Democrat Barack Obama will be competitive in the nation’s largest swing state, he is beating Republican John McCain comfortably in South Florida and has a slight edge among Hispanics, according to a new Miami Herald poll. … “Obama’s 16-point lead in South Florida could springboard him to make it a competitive race statewide,” said pollster John Zogby. “I really think Florida is in play.” … A protest Saturday outside Obama’s speech in Miami drew only about three dozen people, mostly older Cuban-Americans.”
