WTOP: Self-Proclaimed “Lazy Asses” (With Good Hearts)

This has to make for awkward office dynamics.

WTOP’s morning drive team today wore pajamas to work. And this Saturday when thousands show up on the mall for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure, most of TEAM WTOP will be sleeping in. Today was a dress rehearsal as the station had listeners vote for the best pajamas while encouraging them to contribute online to fight breast cancer. This is the second consecutive year that WTOP has worn pajamas to work for the cause.

WTOP’s Bob Madigan is the long-time “STARTER” for the actual race. “He’ll be out there Saturday morning starting the race and doing live hits with us,” WTOP News Director Mike McMearty told FishbowlDC. “We’ll also have a reporter out there covering the race.

“In true radio form… we’re lazy asses and will be sleeping in. We’re representing lazy butts… but, last year we were in the top ten in team fundraising.”
