As a national publication with local relevance, 944 Magazine is a fashion, lifestyle and entertainment-based magazine catering to the young, upwardly mobile, savvy audience between the ages of 21 and 38. Following the approach of its sister markets, 944 will combine cutting-edge editorial, industry and celebrity interviews and visual imagery to bring Atlanta and Detroit a fresh perspective.
In April of 2009, 944 acquired Six Degrees Magazine to gauge both the Atlanta and Detroit markets in preparation for the transition to 944-based editions.
“944 Magazine is naturally a great fit for the Atlanta and Detroit markets,” said CEO and Founder of 944 Media, Marc Lotenberg. “Acquiring Six Degrees gave us the opportunity to measure unfamiliar markets and decide the best method to introduce 944 among our target demographic.”
Six Degrees Magazine, a ‘pocket-size’ monthly fashion and entertainment publication based in Atlanta, Detroit, Miami and Las Vegas will cease distribution in all markets with the transition. 944 will continue its brand presence in the Las Vegas and Miami markets under the 944 Magazine titles.
With the addition of the two new markets, 944 Magazine will circulate a national distribution of 3.4 million copies per year. At a 7.2 pass-along rate, the media portfolio will reach a readership of 24 million per year.
944 Media was recently ranked number 768 on Inc. magazine’s signature list, “Inc. 500 I 5000,” honoring the fastest growing privately held companies in the nation. The standing positioned the publication as the second fastest growing magazine in the nation according to FOLIO magazine.
