Amazon Studios Adds Celebrity Voiceovers

Quietly, Amazon Studios has been rewriting the rules of screenplay competitions. They have introduced a lot of innovative elements to the process, including the ability of competitors to voice a scene from their script.

To publicize that element of the operation, Amazon recently went ahead and enlisted the services of a quartet of Hollywood celebs for “Star Tracks,” an A-list version of the same said service. Lending their talents to the proceedings are Fred Armisen, Jeffrey Tambor, Tricia Helfer, and Alison Pill.

Armisen and Tambor drop in respectively as Benedict Arnold and George Washington for the project America’s Ben Franklin in: The Electrocution String. The script was authored by Jason Ungate, part of the Colorado based creative known as Squidjib.

FishbowlLA applauds the opening line of Ungate and co.’s synopsis for their award-winning entry. It reads: “Benjamin Franklin is remembered as an inventor, a philanthropist, and America’s most important Founding Father, but what history neglects to inform us is Franklin’s status as the single largest exporter of kicking British ass…”
