Andrew Breitbart’s Next Project: Big Defamation Lawsuit

Last week, Shirley Sherrod told CNN she was considering suing conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart for defamation, after he posted misleading, racially inflammatory, info on his blog that lead to Sherrod’s firing from the USDA. At the National Assn. of Black Journalists convention in San Diego yesterday, the LA Times reports Sherrod announced formally and definitively that she would sue Breitbart.

Sherrod sounded fired up, and seemed to relish the chance the lawsuit might bring to start up a public dialogue about race in America: “If the suffering I’ve endured and the joy I’ve felt gets that discussion back out there, we’ve got to deal with it.”

An interesting sidenote: the LA Times’ story on Sherrod’s lawsuit announcement left Breitbart’s name out of their headline–SEO be damned–referring to him generically as “conservative blogger.”

Nice! Don’t try to convince us that wasn’t a subtle F-U. Maybe if we all just ignore him he’ll go away.
