BleacherReport.com Adds Lead Writer Component

Having amassed in just three short years a monthly unique visitors count of 20 million, San Francisco based sports website BleacherReport.com seems to have astutely recognized the need for broader quality control.

Earlier this year, they hired King Kaufman away from Salon.com to oversee writer development. Now, they have assigned “lead writer” status to some of their stalwarts, who will be tasked with mentoring respective subject matter area contributors. Per today’s press release, former SportingNews.com contributor Dan Levy is the new national lead writer, while the NBA beat will be overseen by Bethlehem Shoals:

Shoals is the founder of the wildly influential NBA blog FreeDarko and a co-author of FreeDarko’s two books. He is a regular contributor to GQ.com and has also written for Sports Illustrated, Deadspin, and AOL FanHouse.

The other announced lead writers are Josh Zerkle (NFL), Matt Miller (NFL draft), and Dan Rubenstein (college football).
