Bob Hope Airport Reopens for Filming

Nearly 11 years after prohibiting film shoots, Bob Hope Airport in Burbank is reopening for filming.

Following the terrorists attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the regional airport decided to shut down filming due to strict security measures.

“We had National Guardsmen walking around here in the immediate aftermath,” Victor Gill, director of public affairs and communications told the Los Angeles Times. “We didn’t feel we had the manpower or ability to divert our attention from the immediate issue at hand, which is the safe and secure operation of the airport.”

Los Angeles International Airport went through a similar ban that they lifted in January 2002.

In the past, Home Improvement, Seinfeld, Murder, She Wrote and scenes from Top Gun have been filmed at Bob Hope.
