Tonight there will be candlelight vigils across the nation for Laura Ling and Euna Lee, the journalists currently detained in North Korea. The Los Angeles vigil will be held at Wokcano in Santa Monica, 1413 5th Street, from 6:30 to 9. More information is available on the vigil’s Facebook page.

Ling and Lee were reporting on the trafficking of women along the border with China when they were taken into custody. The women have been detained since March 17 and have been charged with engaging in “hostile acts.” Their trial is set to begin tomorrow and if they are found guilty they could spend 5-10 years in prison.
