Cleaning House at E!
Kate Coe, a TV screenwriter and producer whose claims to fame include working with Audrey Hepburn, winning a Peabody and being canned by “E!” for sticking her nose into other people’s business (a trait we guiltily admire here at FishbowlLA), sends the following.
First was the departure of two-fisted CEO, Mindy Herman, followed by a yard sale of her old office furniture.
Now, E!, in another random cost-cutting move, is dumping the on-staff executive producers — some of whom have been told they’ll return as free-lancers and some of whom know better.
Why stop there — axe ‘em all! Auction off the Avid bays and Aeron chairs. Let’s face it — E!’s chief treasure is an nearly endless supply of celebrity footage, so why muck that up with writing and editing? Just roll the raw tapes — like a sort of Celebrity C-Span. Add some trance tracks and you’ve got a whole new cable channel — Celebrity Surveillance.
