By day, London based Scotsman Douglas McFarlane (pictured) advises banks on security and Internet projects. But this holiday season, he’s also busy marketing his tongue-in-cheek DVD Making It in Hollywood, the result of some far-flung cinematic travels.
A one-time actor and blogger, McFarlane got accredited as foreign press for the 2006 and 2007 Oscars as well as the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, a July 2007 Film London event and the BAFTA Awards held in February of 2008. His resulting first-person footage has been combined with celeb sightings and interviews to produce the new DVD.
“The UK release date is January 31st, but the US-format DVD is available now on Amazon,” McFarlane tells FishbowlLA via email. “Video on demand will be later, as Amazon has a 60-day approval lead time on that.”
McFarlane has already begun filming his next top-secret film project with a trip to Italy. His acting credits include the independent films Ticking Man and Ouija Board, lots of theater (including the West End staging of K-pax) and a long-running AOL broadband ad.
