Did NBC Pay Octuplet’s Mom for an Interview? Did Octuplet’s Grampa Ask?

todaysuleman.jpg
NBC says they didn’t pay a mother of 14 for her story and other reports have the grandfather with his hand outstretched.

From the LAT:

According to an executive at a rival media outlet, Nadya Suleman‘s father made it clear to those asking for the sit-down that he anticipated it would cost as much as $1.2 million to cover Suleman’s expenses. After NBC secured the exclusive, Suleman’s father told other media outlets that the network had approached them with “a real proposal,” the executive said.

On Thursday, Suleman’s publicist, Michael Furtney, initially said that whether she is being paid is “between her and NBC.” He later said he misspoke and insisted that she was not compensated for the interview.

“NBC News does not and will not pay for an interview,” said “Today” spokeswoman Megan Kopf.

Jossip says their informant told them NBC paid Suleman ‘upwards of $300,000′.

Why the denial, NBC? It seems more unethical to use a mother of 14 for ratings gold and not help her pay for cribs and child leashes. Shudder.

Also Wowowow says ‘eventually she wants to earn big bucks as a talking head on television as an authority on child care’. Yeah, wow is right.
