Husband, Wife Now Run Competing La Cañada Publications

Former Los Angeles Daily News crime reporter Donna Evans (pictured) has a new job. She’s one of the very latest local hires for Patch.com, heading up their La Cañada Flintridge hub.

But there’s a weird little catch, a first we think for the Patch empire, which incidentally just passed the 500 websites mark nationwide. She’s married to Dan Evans, editor of overlapping weekly newspaper La Cañada Valley Sun, part of the LA Times family of regional newspapers. (Evans, formerly with The Hollywood Reporter, also oversees regional titles in Glendale, Burbank and La Crescenta.)

Muses the Missus:

Oh yeah, my husband. Funny story there: he’s technically my competition… What sort of grist for this column might Dan’s and my competitive natures produce? Stay tuned!

At the very least, we imagine this new household arrangement could expand the horizon of possible marital arguments. For example, instead of a screaming match about clothes left on the floor, it could be all about the uncredited theft of a Hayley Joel Osment exclusive.
