FBLA’s Complaint Letter or Things That Make You Go ‘Huh?’

The great comedian/actor/legend Rick Overton has remarked real funny is never picking on those without power. Comedy is to rib the powerful. And so because we believe Rick is right, we don’t poke fun at the pitiful – it’s mean. We got a letter that we actually thought was a joke at first. Yesterday, we wrote:

We thought it was nice revenge to unleash Sarah Palin on the Brits who have mucked up our coasts with their incompetence. Tit for tat. A shill for a spill.

Now it’s spelled right. The grammar is good. It’s funny. There’s clever alliteration. It’s timely. And then we got “an official complaint”:

I will never read your bullshit magazine ever again and I am reporting Tina Dupuy for hate language and for insulting the British people. You guys are supposed to be professionals. This is so shocking. I have promoted this sick article throughout the media and the amateurishness of Tina Dupuy. –Ginger Liu

Insulting the British people? Hate? Sick? We wrote her and asked her to stop flaming us personally or we’d print her insane complaint. You know, give her a chance to change her mind, we’ve written some nasty stuff on cold medicine, we get it. Now she’s accused us of threatening her. So here it is. And we’re not going to make fun of her, because Rick Overton told us not to.
