Fresno Reporter Interviews High School Undercover Cop

ABC 30 in Fresno wins this week’s prize for most appealing local TV news story.

Following an eight-month undercover drug bust operation at Exeter Union High School that was basically the real-life equivalent of 21 Jump Street, reporter Jessica Peres was able to interview the officer in question, Alex Salinas. He tells her that he had to be on guard at all times, not just in school, as he occasionally during the assignment would run into students off campus.

Salinas also tells Peres that at first, he inadvertently became a much better student, earning A’s as opposed to the real-life C’s he chalked up during his actual high school days. But he says he quickly adjusted his scholastic M.O.

Peres’ report will continue tonight with more details about the subterfuge, including a fake Facebook page maintained by Salinas. The national media is sure to pick up on this one.
