Actress Heather Graham Serves Up Some Foreign Diplomacy

As it turned out, actress Heather Graham arrived in Seoul, South Korea to film her guest appearance on the upcoming 13-part PBS documentary series Kimchi Chronicles just a few days after North Korea stirred things up with a November 23rd assault on Yeonpyeong Island.

But at a press conference today in South Korea alongside program host (and top chef wife) Marja Vongerichten, Graham made a point of indicating how safe she felt in place where “Americans think bombs are going off every second.” Both the LA based Korea Times and the Korea Herald have dispatches about today’s newser.

Graham, who first met the show host at a Jean-Georges [Vongerichten] restaurant, travels with Marja to the nation’s two largest cities. Sampling everything from the freshest fish at Jagalchi Market in Busan, to temple fare at Bongeun-sa Temple in Seoul, Graham remarked that her favorite dishes were “bibimbap” (rice mixed with vegetables), “bindaetteok” (mung bean pancakes) and “tteok” (rice cake).

What might surprise Graham is how many people in neighboring North Korea are familiar with her work in such films as Boogie Nights and The Hangover. As various recent books and reports have confirmed, a much larger number of North Koreans have access to pirated DVDs than previously thought.
