Journalist’s Daughter Murdered, Arrest Made

155lily.jpgShock and despair spread throughout the local journalism community over the weekend as news broke that the daughter of one of our colleagues had been killed. Lily Burk was 17, the daughter of music journalist Greg Burk and attorney Deborah Drooz. She was bright, delightful and full of promise. She charmed the adults who met her, myself included.

It is only the smallest consolation that Lily’s alleged abductor has been arrested. Police announced this morning that suspect Charlie Samuel had been arrested and was being held without bail. They will be holding a press conference at 11 a.m. today.
