Journalists Sentenced by North Korea – Ashton Kutcher on the Case

ashton.jpg
Laura Ling and Euna Lee from Current TV had their sentence from the North Korean government handed to them.

From LAT:

In a typically terse statement issued Monday, the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported that the women were sentenced to 12 years of “reform through labor.”

Eep. No way that sounds worse than it is.

So thank God they have a celebrity on their side. Ashton Kutcher has taken up the cause of Twitter. Journalists can scoff at Twitter and celebrities all day long – but if we were being held by an erratic country unfriendly to the US with an ailing megalomaniac leader with little to lose – we’d want Ashton twittering about our plight.

Our thanks to our sister blog BayNewser for being on this.
