Kurt Vonnegut, Dead at 84

11vonnegut-600.jpgThe NYT had its finger on the “send” trigger, apparently, and popped this lovely obit up minutes after his death was announced.

It ends with the poem Requiem, from Vonnegut’s 2005 book, A Man Without a Country.

When the last living thing/ has died on account of us,/ how poetical it would be/ if Earth could say,/ in a voice floating up/ perhaps/ from the floor/ of the Grand Canyon,/ “It is done.”/ People did not like it here.

But even better than the NYT, better than Cory Doctorow’s obit, even, is the piece by Kevin F. Sherry on Big Action (a site this half of FBLA contributes to). Seems Vonnegut saved Kevin’s life. So it goes.
