Patch Photographer Wins Three San Diego Press Club Awards
Most people do not think of Patch as a photo-centric site. But as far as this week’s San Diego Press Club Awards are concerned, that’s where the Arianna Huffington hyper-local money is.
For work published on La Mesa and Poway Patch, two of thirteen SD area Patch.com hubs, Chris Stone won three first-place awards. She was the only Patch contributor so honored. Her winning entries were:
Photography, Photo Essay:
A Tribute to a Poway Hero
Photography, Portrait:
Padres Meet Diamondbacks (of the Future) as T-Ball Players Delight Parents
Photography, Sports:
Grossmont/West Hills Pool Their Resources in Final Meets Before League Championships
Congrats to Stone, who worked as a reporter in the 1970s-80s in northern California and has contributed since to National Geographic-imprint books, the Washington Post and other outlets. She is a shining example of the high-caliber tier of talent that can sometimes find a happy home on Patch. Stone’s Patch colleagues separately combined to claim fifteen second and third-place Press Club prizes.
