LA Times Editor Admits What Everyone Already Knows
In a recent interview with Jon Friedman of MarketWatch, LAT editor Russ Stanton said:
“I don’t see us as a direct competitor to the New York Times any more. They have twice as many people as we have, and we have a different audience. We’re writing for folks in the west, and in Southern California in particular.”
It isn’t exactly a revelation, but it indicated to us that the editor of the LAT had a strong grasp on reality. Until we read what he had to say about Sam Zell:
“He is one of the foremost, smartest entrepreneurs in the country,” Stanton said. “He saw rightly an opportunity to buy a great collection of media brands at a good price.”
