‘Last Tango in Paris’ Star Maria Schneider Dies at 58

Maria Schneider, the actress best known for her filmic romps with Marlon Brando in “Last Tango in Paris,” died, ironically, in Paris this morning at the age of 58. Schneider was 19 when she starred in her most famous film.

These days, a homemade porn tape (especially one clever enough to use butter for lube) released on TMZ–let alone a major film starring a legend like Brando–would probably be enough to catapult even a lowly reality star to fame and riches. But Schneider had a tough time in Hollywood after her initial success. She did land a starring role alongside Jack Nicholson in the 1975 film “The Passenger,” but her Hollywood acting career largely petered out after. She did make more than 20 films in Europe over the course of her career, however.

RIP
