LAObserved reports that some Daily Variety subscribers received their copies late yesterday because the lollipops attached to the ad for the USA Networks ‘Kojak’ series premiere “stuck up the circulation works.” Not clear if this is meant literally, as in the lollipops got caught in machinery, or if this unusually elaborate (for Variety) marketing gambit caused other less sticky production delays. Either way, I’ve eaten twelve of those lollipops today, torn from copies of Variety at my local Borders. They’re kind of gross.
