The Register reports:
Led by the Democrats of Napa Valley, more than 100 demonstrators picketed the Register building in downtown Napa to show their opposition to the Register editorial board’s recent endorsement of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
The endorsement appeared in Sunday’s newspaper, encouraging readers to remember “that we are hiring for the most important job in the nation, and that the basis for our decision must be which candidate will best execute the Office of the President of the United States and preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
“In the view of the Register,” the editorial continued, “that candidate is Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.”
Uhm, it’s not actually the editorial board’s job to pander. It’s to challenge. And calling a newspapers editorial page ‘bias’ is like calling McCain ‘old’ and Obama ‘black’. Hello obvious.
However, the article and the video made us snicker because before Napa was known for its wine – it was the city with the state mental hospital. So ‘going to Napa’ was code for you being nuts. And the protest clearly drives that point home.
