OC Register Layoffs Clarification

Our sources think the O.C. Weekly’s sources are full of bunk. True that on Thursday or so, Team Leaders (what other papers call “editors”) briefed reporters that 25-30 people from the newsroom would be cut — though they said the cuts would come this week, not last week as the Weekly reported.

The eds encouraged people who wanted out to quit to lower the body count, explaining that this round of layoffs would be the last to offer 2-weeks pay for every year of employment. After this round, severance will include “just the bare minimum,” according to our sources.
