Fishbowl LA made an appearance at Good magazine’s fundraiser for cicLAvia over the weekend. Well worth the trip. On an absolutely stunning Saturday afternoon, a few hundred people found their way to the new Atwater Crossing performance space, where–for the tax-deductible price of $20–there was an open beer and wine bar, free yoga, music by Very Be Careful among others and…dodgeball. Not sure how throwing balls at the faces of small children correlates with expanding social consciousness and community, but we had a good time nonetheless.
The goal of the event was to raise $10,000 to help cicLAvia shut down 7.5 miles of LA streets this coming April. Based on the head count, it looks like Good hit their mark. We’re still waiting to hear back about the exact amount raised.
In the meanwhile, speaking with few members of Good‘s staff in attendance at the fundraiser, we learned we should expect more of these types of events in the near future. In fact, the insinuation seemed to be that events like this one are going to form the basis of what Good does. Good is currently in the midst of a huge hiring spree, with most of those jobs falling outside of editorial.
More on that to come. In the meanwhile, enjoy these photos of the event from the lovely and talented Jen Calica.
