Parent Evolves into a Self-Made CEO
Mary Parent, who climbed the corporate rungs at both New Line and Universal from assistant-director-VP-senior VP-president-chairman of various film divisions, is now alone at the top as chairwoman of MGM.
Parent has just set up one of her first solely organized films, a new version of “Robocop” with Pi helmer Darren Aronofsky on board to direct.
No word on who will be cast as the half-man, half-robot crimefighter.
Variety reports that MGM is keeping the logline under wraps. But insiders say it will take the sci-fi vigilante classic in more of a noir direction.
Which is right up Aronofsky’s alley with “Requiem for a Dream.” And Parent’s with her years of New Line Cinema experience.
