We emailed, LA Weekly staffer Patrick Range McDonald about his reaction to this story “Five things newspaper employees can do to help save their company” by Matt Sokoloff. Which include revolutionary ideas like “Stop Useless Spending”.
Patrick, pictured above in the middle wrote us:
To be honest, none of those things seem to apply to me, so I don’t have a reaction. Actually, I keep a positive mind set for the newspaper industry. I don’t think it’s completely dying and I figure things will shake out for the best. I went through a period where I was depressed as hell about the state of newspapers, and that didn’t do me any good. So I figure I have to stay positive, keep working hard, and do the best work possible. Even if newspapers do completely die, I’ll be fighting that death every single minute by doing the best journalism I can do and putting stuff out there that matters. To the very end, I will never give up.
