Shirley Sherrod Is Considering Suing Andrew Breitbart

Conservative misanthrope Andrew Breitbart may be facing a defamation suit after posting misleading information on his site “Big Government” that wound up costing the USDA’s Shirley Sherrod her job. As you’ve probably heard by now, a few days ago Breitbart posted an out of context clip of a Sherrod speech that appeared to show Sherrod saying she discriminated against white farmers. Breitbart then used the clip to insinuate Sherrod was a racist. In context, however, the story Sherrod told was a redemption tale of coming to terms with her racial anxiety. But in our hyper-reactive Internet age, Sherrod was asked to resign before the truth could come out. Breitbart has yet to apologize.

Sherrod told CNN yesterday morning that she would seriously consider a defamation suit against Breitbart: “I don’t know a lot about the legal profession but that’s one person I’d like to get back at, because he came at me. He didn’t go after the NAACP; he came at me.”
