The great filmmaker Sidney Lumet, of 12 Angry Men, Network and Dog Day Afternoon fame, passed away over the weekend at the age of 86. Clearly, those three films alone are enough to earn Lumet filmmaking immortality. But as myself and everyone who grew up in Boston knows, The Verdict was quite obviously his greatest film.
