Our pal Jon Sandys, the UK-based webmaster of moviemistakes.com, was kind enough to send us a taste of some of the glorious gaffes gracing this Sunday’s Oscar-nominated films. Django Unchained is the current Best Picture leader with 26 mistakes spotted by website readers while The Avengers ranks as the most mistake-ridden nominee of all with 34 bloopers.
“Mistakes don’t stop them being great films or audiences loving them,” says Sandys, who notes that 1998 Best Picture winner Titanic survived a 260+ tally. “Mistakes are just fun things to notice.” Here are a few of FishbowlLA’s favorite Best Picture slips:
Argo: Ben Affleck is supposedly in 1980 but is shown wearing a Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller (pictured), which wasn’t released until 2008.
Les Misérables: When Marius (Eddie Redmayne) and Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) are singing in the shot where Marius is brought home and just before the wedding scene, you can see an earpiece in Cosette‘s ear.
