Our pal Jon Sandys, the UK-based webmaster of moviemistakes.com, was kind enough to send us a taste of some of the glorious gaffes gracing this Sunday’s Oscar-nominated films. Django Unchained is the current Best Picture leader with 26 mistakes spotted by website readers while The Avengers ranks as the most mistake-ridden nominee of all with 34 bloopers.

“Mistakes don’t stop them being great films or audiences loving them,” says Sandys, who notes that 1998 Best Picture winner Titanic survived a 260+ tally. “Mistakes are just fun things to notice.” Here are a few of FishbowlLA’s favorite Best Picture slips:

Argo: Ben Affleck is supposedly in 1980 but is shown wearing a Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller (pictured), which wasn’t released until 2008.

Les Misérables: When Marius (Eddie Redmayne) and Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) are singing in the shot where Marius is brought home and just before the wedding scene, you can see an earpiece in Cosette‘s ear.

Nice little exclusive from EW senior writer Anthony Breznican heading into the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. He got word from the makers of Lovelace that after a lot of casting drama involving Sarah Jessica Parker for the role of Gloria Steinhem, it all wound up on the cutting room floor:

Parker was a last-minute addition to the film, which features Amanda Seyfried in the life story of the woman who starred in the 1972 X-rated movie Deep Throat. The Sex and the City actress was an emergency fill-in for Demi Moore, who dropped out of the movie in the middle of production after she suffered unspecified health problems and was hospitalized…

With the film now just days away from its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have told EW that it turned out they didn’t need the character after all. Parker, who played the role of feminist icon Gloria Steinem, has joined a long list of actors left on the cutting room floor.

At any given moment, there is typically one must-read Tinseltown feature article gracing one of the marquee east coast glossy monthly magazines. The latest item to claim that distinction can be found in the May issue of GQ and, as of this morning, on the publication’s website.

David Kushner’s “The Man Who Hacked Hollywood” offers a fascinating and detailed look at how an unassuming 290-pound Florida resident cracked the email accounts of top celebs, filmmakers and producers. In doing so, Chris Chaney was able to access all kinds of info besides nude pictures like the bathroom self-portrait taken by Scarlett Johansson:

After hacking the account of one producer, Chaney saw the entire filmmaking process, from start to finish. The producer was working on In Time, a film starring Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, and Amanda Seyfried. Chaney breezed through copies of the script, set in a dystopian future where people die at age 26 unless they can afford to buy another day.

The demented PR streak that courses through the halls of Chicago-based website Mr. Skin has struck again. Whether you love or hate movie nudity, there’s no denying the skill of this gang when it comes to continually re-pitching their successful, Hollywood-derived enterprise.

The website’s latest promotion is an online derby styled after a standard college hoops tournament. That’s right; in honor of NCAA March Madness, these catalogers of mainstream movie naughty bits have drawn up their very own version of a hardwood contest. Per today’s press release:

Interesting and familiar cautionary tale today from Michael Hinman, the Tampa, Florida keeper of sci-fi news blog Airlock Alpha.

After initially picking up on a November 2 news item, as did Syfy’s Blastr.com and the Orlando Sentinel, Hinman did a little digging and found there was no truth to a report that author Harlan Ellison has settled his lawsuit against the writer-director of the Justin Timberlake-Amanda Seyfried thriller In Time. The problem in this case is that the item originated, without attribution, within the nebulous confines of Yahoo!’s Contributor Network. Writes Hinman:

No one from Yahoo! has responded to a request for comment on whether Shirey developed this story on his own, or picked it up from the Yahoo assignment desk. Shirey himself has not responded to a request for comment. He has since posted another story on one of his aggregator websites, but has not removed his Ellison story…

For the past month or so, Oscar winning screenwriter Diablo Cody has been doubling as a talk show host for Lexus’ L/Studio portal. Her Hollywood Hills backyard gabfest is called Red Band Trailer and welcomes to an Airstream trailer and Tiki bar a single celebrity guest each week.

For Episode #5, Cody chatted with actress Amanda Seyfried, not only the co-star of her Jennifer’s Body flick but also a key player in the host’s first date with husband-slash-show-director-co-producer Daniel Maurio.
