Why do we always put up with being second tier to New York and DC? Just because we sleep later they’re getting smug about doing things first. Whatever. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert‘s March for Sanity the weekend before the election, has another chapter in LA.

THR has the exclusive:

Organizers of the Los Angeles Rally to Restore Sanity have secured the Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park near downtown L.A. as the new home for their Oct. 30 meeting.

The event, which was originally to be held at Pershing Square until permit issues derailed those plans, is a satellite rally of the Washington D.C. gathering hosted by Jon Stewart of The Daily Show. The television host’s event is a tongue-in-cheek answer to pundit Glenn Beck’s Divine Destiny event at the National Mall in August.

Amy Lee, an organizer of the Los Angeles event, said she received a permit Tuesday afternoon from the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The next step: securing comedians and other entertainers to round out the three-hour rally.

“We want Los Angeles to come out and represent as strongly as possible,” said Lee, who is organizing the event with friend Ashley Wright. “We are looking for personalities — anybody who wants to come out and represent sanity in Los Angeles.”

The organizers have the blessing of The Daily Show, Lee said.
