KCRW to Air Marc Maron’s WTF

No idea how they’re going to pull this off, but KCRW has decided to air 10 episodes of Marc Maron‘s wonderful podcast WTF–which, if for some reason you can’t figure it out, stands for “What the Fuck.” And therein, seemingly, lies the trouble. Maron begins each and every show by saying fuck no less than 12 times, and isn’t shy about using it during his interviews either. Why should he be shy? It’s his podcast.

But the FCC might have something to say about the matter if anything close to an unedited podcast goes over the airwaves. Especially on Sundays at 11AM, which is when KCRW plans to run the program.

The shows KCRW chose to air are all old, so they’ll have plenty of time to scrub them clean. It will be interesting to see what’s left.

Sympathy for Credit-Challenged Celebs Maxed Out

Sometimes, the unlikeliest Internet content can surface from the unlikeliest of online sources. Take today’s Op Ed from the Austin, TX newsroom of CreditCards.com, actually one of the more legitimate players in this field rather than a purveyor of search engine cluttering SEO content.

In pointing to upside-down SoCal big spenders such as Timothy Busfield, Heidi Montag (pictured) and Lenny Dykstra, contributor Ann Brenoff makes the very valid point that the public’s tolerance for such behavior in today’s decimated United States of Jobless Recovery America has waned. But what really caught our attention is the famous sidekick she tied the public opinion shift to.

Andy Richter Reunites With Conan

Conan O’Brien fans may have shed a few crocodile tears over the loss of band leader Max Weinberg, but they can wipe their eyes knowing that longtime Conan sidekick Andy Richter will be back on the show when “Conan” makes its debut on TBS November 8.

“I’m thrilled to be going back to work with Conan, and very excited to start a whole new venture on TBS,” Richter said in a TBS press release. “However, I am mostly looking forward to getting out of the house again.”

Said Conan of the deal: “This decision was made without my authority. I will get to the bottom of this.”

He kids the Richter.

News of Richter’s return to the show was an open secret. He spoke with New York magazine’s Vulture blog and all but confirmed it earlier this week. “It’s about as important a national secret as there is. All will be revealed. Like maybe even Tuesday. But at the Warner Bros. lot [where O'Brien's show is based], there’s a parking spot with my name on it. It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.”

Now it’s official.

Press release after the jump:

Andy Richter and James Adomian Shilling for Laughs

Car Ad with Andy Richter & James Adomian – watch more funny videos

This video is funny…more disturbing. We like debates that don’t end in murder. Just us? Anyway, this is Andy Richter and James Adomian. Directed and Edited by Peter Atencio. Written by James Adomian.

So we were curious what the ad agency that does all of Nissan’s campaigns would think of this faux spot. And we got this back:

Dear Tina,

Everyone at TBWA\Chiat\Day wants to thank you for your interest and support.

With respect to the idea you forwarded to our office, we unfortunately have a policy (prompted by, I hate to say, our lawyers) that does not permit us to either review or accept unsolicited advertising, marketing or promotional ideas or materials. Once it is recognized that the purpose of any correspondence represents an unsolicited idea, they get forwarded to me without reviewing and I’m the guy with the unenviable position of having to tell people I am returning their ideas without reviewing them and that we aren’t keeping any copies.

Please do not interpret this as a rejection of the value of these ideas — we love the enthusiasm for our advertising.

Sincerely,
Neal Grossman
Chief Operating Officer
TBWA\Chiat\Day – Los Angeles

We got rejection letter? Geez. It just never fails to sting.
