American Idol: WGA Still Trying to “Represent”

2678848219_e64e8435d7.jpg

As the American Idol production team winds through the country for audition season, the Writers Guild of America is in hot pursuit. Having chartered a “Truth Tour” bus to shadow AI auditions, the WGA hopes go get attention for its long-running battle against the hit TV show over the right to represent reality show workers.

Has it worked? Not so far. A quick scan at coverage of the WGA’s first stop yields a whole lotta nothing.

Why? Well, let’s see, the media could write stories about sticky labor disputes starring sickly-looking writer types, or they could focus their attention on the 8,000 lithe and lovely 20-somethings sleeping in piles on the ground outside this country’s biggest auditoriums. Hmm. Good luck, WGA.

tn_my_big_breasts_and_me.jpg

The BBC is so classy, doncha know? Tonight and no doubt soon to be every night:

My Big Breasts and Me

Documentary about three large-breasted women who feel that having enormous bosoms is not such a blessing. Jodie is terrified of having breast reduction surgery, but with her breasts causing her chronic back pain she knows it may be her only option. Vicky hopes that alternative therapies and an exercise regime will downsize her chest. Maddie, a fashion student, struggles to be taken seriously in a world where she feels only women with small boobs can look attractive.

Readers of Spy will recall Lynn Snowden’s adventures wearing strap-on DDs, Busty Like Me.

Lifetime Television has a doc.-style pilot called Club Gastronomique that focuses on

an invitation-only culinary club and its female participants who will get to meet interesting people in New York City while dining at fantastic places.

Yes, that’s right. You get to watch other people eat.

BBC Lied About The Queen–Will Heads Roll?

queenrecropDM_468x523.jpg

The BBC fibbed about Elizabeth II which must be an act of treason. Seems Her Majesty didn’t storm off in a fit of pique after a session with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. The session was filmed for a BBC documentary, A Year With the Queen.

BBC exec. Peter Fincham said at a press launch for the doco: “Definitely a memorable bit is Leibovitz getting it wrong and the Queen losing it a bit and walking out in a huff. In most of what we see there’s a twinkle in her eye.”

The trailer showed her saying to a lady in waiting: “I’m not changing anything. I’ve had enough dressing like this, thank you very much.” implying she was leaving the photo shoot. In fact, she was saying this to the lady in waiting as she walked in.

An apology has been issued, admitting to misrepresentation. And just the other day, FBLA was hearing how the Beeb is so trusted and responsible.

Sundown on Sunset

Post-Oscar let down–it’s like Lent, only with more fasting.

Nicole Kidman knows how to geld male animals.

Rick Dees needs help.

NBC Wants A MySpace All It’s Own

NBC.jpeg

NBC is supposed to be creating social networking communities for its major TV shows, according to Techcrunch, which linked to a cache file of a now-deleted post by Sab Kanaujia, vice president of digital innovation at NBC Digital Media. From the post:

NBCU is building a core social networking platform that will provide various tools and functionality on all our major properties to enable users to self-express and find, interact and share with other like-minded users. There is no reason why users should go to/create ‘The Office’ community on MySpace when NBCU has the competitive advantage and the ability to provide a differentiated experience on NBC.com.

FBLA wonders if he talks in corporate lingo as well. And as for those users who’ll come running to NBC–(a) MySpace is already up and running and if you have a zillion friends, you’re not likely to transfer them all to the “official” Office site and (b) people who want to build an Office tribute site don’t want corporate attorneys breathing down their cybernecks every time they post something.
