Beyoncé to Headline BET Experience

Fresh off her amazing performance at the Super Bowl, BET announced Monday that Beyoncé would be the headliner for the BET Experience at L.A. Live in June.

Beyonce’s performance is the first stop of the North American leg of the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Comedian Mike Epps, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Miguel, Schoolboy Q, Kirk Franklin, R. Kelly, New Edition and The Jacksons (MJ on hologram?) will also perform between Staples Center and Club Nokia from June 28-30. The weekend concludes with 2013 BET Awards from the Nokia Theatre on June 30.

The Ministry of Gossip celebrity blogger got the official sendoff last night from boss Christie D’Zurilla and other LA Times colleagues, who all wished him the best of luck with new employers Yahoo! omg! and omg! Insider. The re-branded, cross-platform version of syndicated entertainment TV news magazine The Insider officially debuts January 7.

People senior staff writer Alexis Chiu–the author of the mag’s recent Beyonce “Most Beautiful” cover story–has a new gig. She’s just been named the new executive editor of In Touch Weekly.

Chiu will be reporting to Dan Wakeford, the editor-in-chief of Life & Style who was also just named EIC of In Touch by parent company Bauer Publishing.

If and when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sell their south-of-France wedding pictures to the highest bidder (and then presumably donate the proceeds to charity), it will likely fall short of the haul generated by their biological daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. That’s just one of the intriguing tidbits contained in today’s Daily piece by Michelle Ruiz about the celeb shots currently most coveted by Hollywood paparazzi.

The first photos of Shiloh were sold to People magazine for a staggering $6 million, while pictures taken in Africa that confirmed the couple-status of Jolie and Pitt went for around $1 million. Ruiz estimates that Brangelina wedding day pics will net approximately $2 million:

“That’s going to be the wedding of the century,” Gary Morgan, CEO of Splash photo agency, told Flash of the nuptials. He bets the shots will be closely guarded and sold to the highest bidders in the U.S. and abroad. “They’ll revive the industry — for that week, anyway.”

As Perez Hilton approaches the one-year anniversary of a redemptive journalistic makeover, he is adding in kind to a web empire that already includes spinoffs CocoPerez.com and PerezFit.com.

The newest cog in the Perez portfolio is Perezitos.com, focused on celebrity parents and their kids, with advice from pediatricians thrown in for good measure. The man born Mario Lavandeira tells Reuters LA he’s thrilled with his new M.O.:

“I’ve had some people say they miss the old Perez but thankfully, the majority of the comments are people embracing this change and direction, and at the end of the day, the reason I made the shift was for myself,” he said. “I can still be critical, and I am, and I can still talk about celebrities, but I can do it in a way that’s not mean and hurtful and nasty. My new motto is ‘be sassy…’”

Beyoncé’s Soft Porn Perfume Ad Banned From UK TV

Local pop star Beyoncé is pissing off parents across the pond. The ad for her new perfume “Heat” has been taking a lot of heat for broadcasting during daytime television in the UK, when children are likely to be parked in front of the tube. The Brits have now banned the airing of the super sexy commercial before 7:30 p.m.

Coty, the company that manufactures the perfume, defended the ad. It was not, they explained, “overtly graphic or explicitly sexual and at no point was Beyoncé naked.” The company stopped short of calling parents of young children uptight prudes.

C’mon, would you want Junior watching this with his cartoons?

Our crack research team here at FBLA has found the website of the set that appears in the latest Lady Gaga video featuring Beyonce.

The website is here.

The diner and motel set about an hour outside of LA has been used for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The OC, NCIS and the movie House of 1000 Corpses. Recently it was the backdrop for an AT&T commercial with Bill Kurtis.

Music videos are notoriously cheap non-union quick shoots. Lady Gaga’s epic video is a short film. Art.

We just got word from our person on the inside that the new Microsoft commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates was most likely directed by Bryan Buckly. The same commercial director that did the American Express Ellen Degeneres spots. The one with the animals that won an Emmy and the other one with Beyonce and the Village People.

For people with TiVo, we sure watch a lot of commercials…

Ladies’ Night: Grammys Were About the Chicks … Except For One

Grammys night was ladies’ night, with Mary J. Blige and the Dixie Chicks, giving stunning performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches.

But some of the female artists looked like they were just waiting for the night to end so they could slink back into their sweat pants. (We’re looking at you, Carrie Underwood.)

Beyonce sings her heart out, and Carrie Underwood looks bored. Tony Bennett and Stevie Wonder get an award — that Stevie dedicates to his dead mom — and Carrie Underwood looks bored. The camera pans to Prince, who is sitting right in front of Carrie Underwood, and she smiles. And then looks bored. (Good thing the camera didn’t cut to her during that interminably boring John Mayer/Corrine Bailey Rae/John Legend act).

Even when she took the stage to accept her own awards and perform those purdy country songs, Carrie Underwood looked bored. Jesus, take the wheel; Carrie’s too bored to drive.
