Tasting Table LA Has a New Editor

Free daily email publication Tasting Table currently has a national newsletter as well as local blasts geared to New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and LA. As of January 2, the editor of the LA edition is Garrett Snyder, who came over from LA Weekly.

Snyder replaces Willy Blackmore and is home office-based, since the Tasting Table headquarters are in Manhattan. And what sort of things will the new man at the SoCal table be tubthumping? Places like a new joint in Pasadena from Ryan Sweeney (Verdugo Bar, The Surly Goat, Little Bear):

Spin around blindfolded in Old Town Pasadena, and you’ll likely end up facing a generic 35-tap pub. Pin a tail on The Blind Donkey, though, and you’ll find a handpicked selection of craft beers and 99 bottles of whiskey…

Clear Channel Entertainment Hires John Sykes

Executive John Sykes has been hired as the new president of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises, the media company announced Tuesday.

The hire comes days after Clear Channel was rebranded as Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. In this newly created role, Sykes will “develop new businesses for the company across a range of media, including television and live events, as well as create value for Clear Channel advertisers and key partners.” He will report to Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman.

“Clear Channel has a unique relationship with our audiences, who have a deep loyalty to our brands and trust us to bring them innovative and creative media and entertainment experiences,” Sykes said in a statement.

Two More Entities Join LA Geek Media Parade

As of yesterday, the LA version of GeekChicDaily.com’s daily email newsletter is up and blasting. The company — backed by such heavyweights as Peter Guber, Bob Pittman, and Joe Roth — also threw itself a little shindig Thursday night at Meltdown Comics on Sunset Boulevard.

In today’s mirrored website posting, the LA folks ponder potential Fantastic Four kill-off scenarios. For Jessica Alba‘s character, they suggest “forcing Sue Storm’s alter-ego to sit through a screening of The Love Guru. Death by embarrassment.”
