Suspicious white power was found in a letter sent to Dancing with the Stars at CBS’s “Television City” studio in Los Angeles yesterday. This is the second time in as many years someone has sent scary white substances to Dancing with the Stars. The same thing happened last year when Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin were battling for the title. No one was hurt as police determined the powder was harmless.

This time too Los Angeles police say the powder wasn’t dangerous. Try telling that to the poor mailroom kid who opened the package. Psychological trauma much.

Bristol Palin, the formerly pregnant daughter of the former governor of Alaska, turned – wait for it – abstinence activist, was a contestant on a dancing show. The dancing show has a bunch of professional dancers paired with celebrities and various notables who are not professional dancers. There are a lot of false eyelashes, sequins and lame music. But it’s super popular and people love it. They feel emotionally invested in it. So Bristol Palin, who feels she is plagued by “haters,” clopped her way through the show and viewers took issue with her. Mainly because she wasn’t as good as the other contestants but kept on being voted to stay on the show. Tellingly she said “Going out there and winning this would mean a lot. It would be like a big middle finger to all the people out there who hate my mom and hate me.” Because nothing says “screw you” to people who hate your mom like you getting a prize you clearly don’t deserve.

Value merit? Hater.

When Bristol Palin signed on for Dancing With the Stars, there was plenty of speculation that she was going to embarrass her mother all over again. But according to her DWTS co-star Margaret Cho, it was Sarah Palin who insisted Bristol slap on her dancing shoes. Cho writes on her website that:

…the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it. Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she “owed” it to her to do DWTS so that “America would fall in love with her again” and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way. Instead of being supposedly “handicapped” by the presence of her teen mom daughter, now Bristol is going to be an “asset” – a celebrity beloved for her dancing. I am sure the show wasn’t in on this (but who knows anything really).

Cho goes on to say that she genuinely liked Bristol, despite their political differences, and to compliment her performance on the show. She also notes that, having spilled the beans on the Palin family, “I am scared I am going to wake up with a decapitated moose head in my bed.”

David Letterman has been getting some grief the last few days for jokes he made about Governor Sarah Palin and her 18-year old daughter, teen pregnancy spokesmodel Bristol Palin. Last night he responded-

Yesterday there was a rumor that republican VP nominee Sarah Palin‘s 5th child was actually her 17 year old daughter Bristol Palin‘s child. That Sarah Palin had wanted to spare her daughter the shame and claimed the baby as her own. Yes, the rumor was also a storyline on last season’s Desperate Housewives. The scheme on the show was also carried out by a right-wing gun nut character. It just fit. Besides, when a high school girl is out of school for 7 months with mono. That’s code.

Anyway, news broke this morning, very fitting for ‘Labor’ Day, that Bristol is 5 months pregnant now. And that Sarah, doesn’t want to spare her the shame. So there’s a relief.
