Son of Fox Sports Broadcaster Dies in Car Crash

Christopher Myers, the 19-year-old-son of Fox Sports anchor Chris Myers, was killed in a fatal car accident Thursday in Southern California.

“It is with tremendous sadness that the FOX Sports family acknowledges the passing of Christopher Myers, 19, son of NASCAR on FOX studio host Chris Myers,” Fox Sports media relations manager Eddie Motl said in a statement.

The NASCAR on Fox studio host will miss the Daytona 500 next weekend and SPEED studio host John Roberts will assume Myers’ responsibilities.

The network is giving Myers as much time off as he needs.

Entertainment News Vet Returns to Chicago

After recent stints with showbiz websites rumorfix.com and celebtv.com, Chris Myers has ditched the Hollywood entertainment beat. The veteran producer, who was also formerly a coordinating news producer at both Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, is the new assistant news director at Fox Chicago.

Myers was recruited by Phyllis Schwartz, a colleague he worked with early on in his career at the Windy City’s NBC and ABC affiliates. She in fact created the position for him. From the Fox Chicago statement:

“Having managed several Chicago newsrooms together, we are excited to collaborate once again in bringing Fox Chicago viewers an engaging and energetic news product,” said Schwartz.

“I’m looking forward to returning home, reuniting with Phyllis and working with the Fox Chicago News team,” Myers added.
