The media blitz for this weekend’s Golden Globes BFF tandem has included exclusive chats with THR and EW as well as a Wednesday afternoon conference call. From each, we’ve gleaned a suitably cheesy highlight.

Best Sports Analogy: If the Oscars are Hollywood’s version of the Super Bowl, then the Golden Globes logically correspond to the NCAA Football championship game. When asked by EW‘s Dan Snierson about their kudos M.O., Fey suggested that she and Poehler are “going to be the first people ever to do a man-to-man hosting strategy. We’re going to tell a joke to every single person in the audience. Most people do a zone — we’re going man-to-man.”

Best Q&A Glitch: During the bi-coastal telephone interview with THR news editor Matthew Belloni (Fey dialed in from New York, Poehler via LA), the Parks and Recreation star fell off the call halfway through. What’s funny is that the Q&A fully transcribes the details, right down to Poehler’s joke that she had stopped for a “quick facial.”

Good luck trying to erase the trail of a tweet when you have more than 26 million followers and your name is Justin Bieber.

It’s not clear why the Biebs would chime in yesterday about having just recorded a VO role for The Simpsons, then scrub that tweet. Did a ghost tweeter jump the gun? Did Bieber get a quick text message from FOX? It’s all moot, thanks to a report by EW’s Dan Snierson that has been widely picked up:

Executive producer Al Jean confirms to EW that Bieber will indeed play himself in an upcoming episode. How exactly does he fit into the story? “He tries to get into a talent show that Bart is playing piano in and they won’t admit him,” says Jean, quipping: “Draw your own conclusions.”

It’s hard to imagine a serial killer with a more devastating Showtime reach than the one guided to award-winning heights by John Lithgow. But according to an Entertainment Weekly Q&A by Dan Snierson with Dexter executive producer and new showrunner Scott Buck, that’s just want fans of the program should expect this fall.

Edward James Olmos (pictured) is on board as Professor Gellar, an expert in religious studies. Over the course of Season Six, he becomes a person of major interest in a new Miami crime spree. Says Buck:

They are probably the biggest crimes we’ve ever seen on this show. We’re going toward a different kind of serial killer than what we usually see. This is someone more in line with the Zodiac Killer…. He kills people with great conviction. This is probably the first serial killer we’ve had who thinks he’s in the right.
